Tottenham midfield duo Mousa Dembele and Eric Dier are both doubts for Saturday’s trip to Middlesbrough.
The pair featured during Spurs’ 5-0 thrashing of Gillingham in the EFL Cup, yet were taken off after complaining of hamstring trouble.
Mauricio Pochettino has admitted that he may not risk Dier or Dembele this weekend, with a Champions League tie away in Moscow looming on Tuesday.
“It is a little bit more than cramp,” Pochettino said.
“It was a very small issue. They are running, working, nearly at the same level as the other players.”
After their crunch clash with CSKA Moscow next week, Pochettino’s men then host Manchester City before the international break.
And the Argentinian has admitted he will need to pick his team with caution.
Pochettino added: “Now I need to decide whether to take a risk or to wait for the Champions League in Moscow or against Manchester City.”
