Tottenham eye cut-price summer move for Hamburg starlet Jann-Fiete Arp

Tottenham could land Hamburg starlet Jann-Fiete Arp for just £8.8million this summer – but they will face stiff competition from RB Leipzig for his signature.

The 18-year-old, who has scored two goals in 11 Bundesliga appearances this term, is on Tottenham’s radar ahead of the summer.

Hamburg have had a miserable first half to the season and are in serious relegation danger having picked up 17 points from 21 games.

But their troubles could be good news to Spurs as, according to Bild, Arp’s imminent new contract is likely to contain a relegation clause.

This would mean that any club wishing to buy the young striker could do so for just £8.8m should Hamburg drop out of Germany’s top tier.

The teen ace will be far more expensive should Hamburg beat the drop but that may not put Tottenham off from making their move anyway.

However, the north London side will have to hold off Leipzig to sign him, with the third-placed club also in the running.
