Stoke are reported to be among the clubs ready to swoop for Andros Townsend if Newcastle are relegated this season.
Townsend moved to St James’ Park in January from Tottenham but he is not expected to stick around long if they are relegated, with reports claiming there is an £8m release fee if they do go down.
That is considerably less than the £12million Newcastle paid and there will be a clamour for his signature, even though he is reported to be on £55,000 a week.
Stoke have been linked with a swoop, while there is also said to be interest from West Ham and Southampton.
The Magpies are in serious danger of being relegated to the Championship, and the vultures are already starting to hover above St James’ Park waiting for that to happen.
