Tony Pulis fires warning to Saido Berahino: It’s time for you to deliver

“Two weeks to go now – so we’ll see if he stays or not. He’s really got his head down. He’s ready to go and, fingers crossed, that will be with West Bromwich Albion.”

Pulis is closing in on a deal to sign Jeff Schlupp after agreeing an £11.5m deal with Leicester for the winger and has already landed Matt Phillips form QPR.

And Pulis, who has agreed to let James Chester move to Aston Villa for £9m, was eager to dismiss suggestions he could quit over the slow progress in the transfer market under the club’s new Chinese owners.

He said: “It’s not a case of walking out. What I do know is we need players in and quickly. We’ve done hardly any business. We have to get moving.

“We can’t go into the season with what we’ve got. You’re either in the game or you aren’t. We need five players.”
