Newcastle boss Rafael Benitez is being linked with a move to Everton should the Magpies drop into the Championship.
Reports in the tabloid press claim the Toffees will make a move for the Spaniard if they dispense of the services of boss Roberto Martinez following a largely disappointing season.
A host of names have been linked with the job, including Stoke boss Mark Hughes, but Benitez has also been mentioned if Newcastle lose their battle with the drop.
Benitez is expected to leave the Magpies if they are relegated to the Championship, and the reports claim he has been talked about within Goodison Park.
No contact has been made with the man who lifted the Champions League with Liverpool in 2005 and Martinez is still hoping to remain in charge for next season.
