Jake Livermore will start at centre-back for Hull City in the opening Premier League game against Leicester.
Curtis Davies is the only fit central defender available to the Tigers, who are 8/13 with Titan Bet to be relegated this season, against the champions for Saturday’s lunchtime clash and he will be partnered by Livermore in an unfamiliar role.
Forward Shaun Maloney and Greg Luer, 21, are both in contention tomorrow as caretaker boss Mike Phelan has to use some youngsters with just 13 senior players available.
Defender Harry Maguire is still a couple of weeks away from being fit, while goalkeeper Allan McGregor, right-back Moses Odubajo and central defenders Alex Bruce and Michael Dawson are on the long-term injury list.
Phelan said: “It’s not the hardest team in the world to pick, but I know this group of players will give it their all.”
