Hull are hoping to steel a march on Premier League rivals Stoke by making a £10million bid for Tottenham midfielder Ryan Mason.
Mason is available for transfer as his chances of regular first-team football next season look to be limited, and both Hull and Stoke are keen to do a deal.
Tottenham have yet to receive a firm offer for the 25-year-old, but that could be about to change following reports Hull are ready to match their £10million valuation.
That would put the Tigers in the box seat to do a deal and Stoke would have to react quickly to make sure they stay in the running for his signature.
Hull will be hoping the fact that former Tottenham stars Tom Huddlestone and Jake Livermore are already at the club will weigh heavily in their favour as they look to pursue a deal.
