The Jungle in Paris: 1,000 migrants cleared after illegal camps set up in French capital

Nearly 1,000 people were today evacuated from a makeshift camp below train tracks near a Metro station.



A total of 985 migrants were removed from the camp, near Stalingrad station in the east of the French capital.

The camp’s residents, who are reported to be mainly from Sudan, Afghanistan and Eritrea, will now be homed in emergency shelters.

They are expected to be there for a month, which will allow them to start claiming asylum, France’s Interior Ministry said.
