Tottenham are being linked with a surprise move for Newcastle midfielder Florian Thauvin when the window opens.
Thauvin only joined the Magpies from Marseille in the summer in a deal worth a reported £15million, but he struggled to make an impact at St James’ Park and re-joined the French side on loan for the remainder of the season.
A permanent return to Marseille looks to be out of the question due to the asking price and player’s wage demands, but there will be no shortage of takers should Newcastle decide to cash in.
Italian giants Inter Milan have already been linked but now reports suggest Tottenham could be willing to take him to White Hart Lane in the summer.
Thauvin penned a five-year-deal when he arrived at St James’ Park and the Magpies could decide to keep hold if they manage to stay in the Premier League.
