The 27-year-old Serbian midfielder, who joined the club for £10.9million on a four-year deal in 2014 and scored seven goals in 24 Premier League outings last term, looked certain to leave St Mary’s this summer after a falling out with Koeman.

However, the Dutchman’s decision to leave the club and take over the Everton hotseat has given Tadic renewed hope of continuing his career on the south coast.

The former FC Twente star appears happy with the appointment of Frenchman, Puel, and reports claim he will follow the likes of Virgil van Dijk, Steven Davis and Ryan Bertrand in penning a new contract to stay with the Saints.
