Swansea 1 Man City 2: Pep Guardiola maintains 100 per cent start with Liberty Stadium win

It helped Guardiola make it nine wins out nine in England but club skipper Vincent Kompany gave him a scare when he walked off immediately after Swansea pulled one back leaving his side with 10 men.

It was another bad night for Swansea’s under-fire coach Francesco Guidolin but he almost got lucky when Willy Caballero played a suicidal pass trying to find Kompany only to give the ball straight to Borja Baston.

The Spanish striker wasted the chance to score on his full debut, though, by shooting too close to Caballero who tipped it over.

Guardiola wants his keepers to play out from the back but it is a dangerous tactic where the Argentine is concerned – a few minutes later he again conceded possession trying to pick out a pass.

The visitors found chances hard to come by, although teenager Angelino did fire just wide after collecting a Pablo Zabaleta cross.
