Swansea star Angel Rangel says staying in the Premier League should be seen as a ‘fantastic achievement’ this season.
Sunday’s 4-0 defeat at Leicester saw Swansea drop to 15th place on goal difference, although a nine-point cushion to the relegation zone should be enough to maintain their place in the top flight.
“Of course, (making sure we are mathematically safe) is the target for us,” the Spanish full-back said. “This season has been so difficult.
“We’ve had three managers and when this happens you know it is going to be tough.
“Even though we are disappointed, the most important thing is to stay in the Premier League. Sometimes we take for granted, especially fans – they just think after all the success we’ve had over the years, they want us to be in the top 10.
“We want to but it has been hard for us, so I think staying up this season is a fantastic achievement considering what has happened.”
