Sunderland stars planned to do this after Newcastle game: It could have caused a riot

An agent was asked to produce t-shirts of a Black Cat destroying a Magpie by a Sunderland player.

The squad wanted to wear them under their shirts – then charge towards Toon fans after the game if they’d won.

The agent begged players for a week not to do it, for which they eventually agreed.

Writing in his new book The Deal, super agent Jon Smith said: “Before one of the derbies in the 2015-16 season, the Sunderland players asked an agent to produce a t-shirt depicting a Black Cat savaging a Magpie.
