Sunderland have been linked with a move for winger Rachid Ghezzal, who is expected to leave Lyon this summer.
Sam Allardyce has indicated he may need to move some of his current squad on before he can finalise his own summer transfer plans but the Sunderland boss has been linked with a number of forwards in recent weeks regardless.
Swansea pair Andre Ayew and Bafetimbi Gomis have been suggested as potential targets, and reports in France claim the Black Cats are weighing up a move for Algerian Ghezzal.
Ghezzal falls out of contract next summer and so far has refused to discuss an extension.
Lyon are therefore open to a sale and Sunderland could make a move for the 24-year-old but they will face competition as Leicester, Southampton and Middlesbrough are among the clubs believed to also be considering a move for Ghezzal.
