Sunderland have been credited with an interest in Sheffield Wednesday defender Tom Lees but they will face competition.

The Black Cats have yet to bring in any new faces this summer and the Sunderland Echo says boss David Moyes wants a centre-half, a right-back and a striker before the transfer window closes.

If Sunderland do manage to snare Lees, the new manager will be able to tick two of those targets off of his list as Lees is primarily a central defender but he can also operate at full-back.

Wednesday are understood to value the 25-year-old at £5million but Sunderland may face competition if they make a move as Burnley are also tracking the defender, while Championship outfits Derby County and Norwich City have been linked with Lees in the past.
