The Dutch defender finds himself in the doghouse just days after his manager offered words of sympathy following the heart scare which led to him being pulled out of the Tottenham game last Sunday just 35 minutes before kick-off.
Moyes has made it clear Van Aanholt must mend his ways off the pitch if he is to have a long-term future at the Stadium of Light.
“I do not expect players to do that and I’ve had a word with him,” said the Sunderland boss. “I am not impressed.
“I also have to say it was a picture from six weeks ago, it was in his own time, not during the season, but let me make clear I don’t condone it at all.
“He has to realise that he’s got to conduct himself much better. It’s been one thing after another. But hopefully, we’ll get them all put away to bed.”
Van Aanholt played the full 90 minutes in the Black Cats’ 2-1 EFL Cup victory at QPR in midweek.
