Sturgeon holds ‘secret independence talks’ – and masterplan involves her ‘STEPPING DOWN’

Yesterday, one constitutional expert said an independence vote “by the end of 2018” was the best of Ms Sturgeon’s “rapidly narrowing options”.

Kirsty Hughes, a leading Brussels-watcher, said: “[This] would mean Scotland could, as part of its divorce talks with the UK, hold parallel membership talks with the EU, and attempt to limit the damage so that its laws did remain consistent with the EU, allowing fast-track negotiations and re-entry.”

Meanwhile, it has also emerged the Scottish Government has eight civil servants working full-time on referendum planning compared to just two working on Brexit.
