Romelu Lukaku will miss Tuesday’s EFL Cup clash with Norwich so boss Ronald Koeman could hand Enner Valencia his first start.
Lukaku suffered a slight knock in Saturday’s win over Middlesbrough and will sit out the third-round tie as a precaution, paving the way for deadline-day signing Valencia to get his first start for the Toffees after coming off the bench at the weekend.
Gareth Barry is also likely to miss out and Koeman has hinted Tom Cleverley could come back into the side after having making his first appearance since August as a substitute on Saturday.
Koeman has said he will play a strong side but with a few fringe players likely to feature, so Aaron Lennon and Ramiro Funes Mori are in line for starts.
Darron Gibson will miss the game after undergoing groin surgery which is likely to keep him out for the next month while James McCarthy, Muhamed Besic and Tyias Browning are all still unavailable.
