Stoke are reported to have agreed a fee in the region of £2million with IFK Gothenburg for the services of Gustav Engvall.
The 19-year-old striker has been training with the Potters and boss Mark Hughes has seen enough to convince him to try and wrap up a permanent deal.
The Swedish press are suggesting that a fee is close to being agreed and a switch to the Britannia Stadium will be completed at the end of the season.
Engvall has revealed he loved his week training with the club and is open to a permanent switch.
“It was fun and great to get to know the level,” he has been quoted as saying. “The training was pretty tough, and we played three against three and five against five.
“Pleasant and humble people. We will keep in touch and we’ll see what happens. I’m glad they like me as a player.”
