Everton have been linked with a move for Southampton striker Graziano Pelle who has starred for Italy in Euro 2016.
The very fact that Everton have been linked with the player would suggest they may now be ready to cut their ties with star striker Romelu Lukaku, who has been agitating for a move away for months.
Pelle has caught the eye in France and has apparently been offered a lucrative move to the Chinese Super League by Shanghai Greenland.
The Italy international is entering the final year of his Saints contract and a number of Italian clubs have also registered their interest in the forward but the best offer on the table is likely to come from China, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport.
Shanghai Greenland have apparently offered the 30-year-old a lucrative long-term contract worth £150,000-a-week, and they would have no problem matching Saints’ £20million asking price. Even with their new investment, Everton will not be offering those sort of figures but they would hope to be able to persuade him to stay in the Premier League.
Stoke and Chelsea have also been linked with Pelle, who has previously stated a desire to return to play in Serie A.
