As reported earlier this month, Everton look set to lose John Stones after opening negotiations with Manchester City.
City have been in a two-way battle with Chelsea for the England international’s signature throughout the summer but it now appears the Citizens are set to land their man.
The 22-year-old, who was part of Roy Hodgson’s Euro 2016 squad in France, is edging closer to ending his three-year spell at Goodison Park and making the switch to the Etihad Stadium.
A deal has yet to be agreed between the two clubs but it is believed the blue side of Manchester will shell out around £50million to land the central defender, who can also be deployed at right-back.
Stones, who received a fair amount of criticism for his performances last season, stayed at Goodison last summer after Everton rejected a number of bids from Chelsea, but new boss Ronald Koeman now looks set to be handed a sizeable transfer kitty to add to his squad, having only drafted in goalkeeper Maarten Stekelenburg thus far.
