Stoke could miss out on the signing of Saido Berahino after reports claimed Southampton are now leading the race to sign him.
Berahino is expected to leave West Brom this summer after seeing a move to Spurs blocked by Albion last year and Stoke are chasing his signature.
Reports claimed that Stoke had a deal in the bag after agreeing a fee of £16million with Albion but now some suggest that Saints are ready to nip in and take him to St Mary’s.
Saints need attacking reinforcements following Sadio Mane’s £34million move to Liverpool, despite the recent acquisition of former Stoke target Nathan Redmond, and they have set their sights on 22-year-old Berahino.
Berahino is due to fall out of contract next summer but Albion have no intention of allowing him to leave on the cheap, with reports indicating a fee in the region of £16million-£20million would be required to convince them to sell.
