Stoke City have joined the race to sign Wales midfielder and Swansea City target Joe Allen.

A Stoke spokesman confirmed to BBC Radio Wales Sport that a bid has been made to Liverpool for the midfielder, who was named in the team of the tournament at Euro 2016.

A fee in the region of £13 million has been offered for Allen, who left the Swans for Anfield in 2012.

Allen, 26, who signed for £15 million, has a year remaining on his contract.

The midfielder started only eight games in the Premier League in 2015-16.

Despite being a free agent in 2017, Allen wants his future sorted this summer.

The 31-time capped international, who helped Wales to the semi final of Euro 2016 in their first major finals appearance in 58 years, is currently on holiday.
