Stoke boss Mark Hughes has confirmed the club have made a move for Saido Berahino.
The Potters are in the market for a new striker and are understood to have tabled an offer worth £20m for the West Brom man.
The Baggies have yet to respond to the bid, but Hughes is hopeful of getting a deal done for the 22-year-old.
Speaking on Tuesday, he said of Stoke’s interest in Berahino. “We’ve put bids in. As we stand, those haven’t been accepted yet, but we are still hopeful on that one.”
Berahino has a strained relationship with West Brom and vowed never to play for chairman Jeremy Peace again after a move to Tottenham was blocked last summer.
He later apologised to the club’s supporters for his actions and went on to play 32 times in all competitions under Tony Pulis last season, scoring seven goals.
But he is looking likely to move on this summer having recently turned down the offer of a new contract with West Brom and with just one year left on his current deal.
