Stoke City are reportedly confident they can keep hold of manager Mark Hughes despite links with Everton.
Everton could well be on the hunt for a new boss at the close of the campaign with Roberto Martinez’s position at Goodison Park under intense scrutiny.
Potters boss Hughes has been mooted as a potential replacement but the Stoke Sentinel say the club’s hierarchy have dismissed the rumours as mere paper talk.
The report also states Stoke are confident Hughes would not be tempted by a switch to Everton even if he is approached, as the Potters feel they can offer the Welshman “as much, if not more, ambition and resources” than the Merseyside outfit.
Stoke are in a strong position regardless should Everton firm up their apparent interest with a concrete move as the former Blackburn and Fulham boss is under contract until 2019.
