Stoke are expected to complete the signing of AFC Wimbledon defender Ryan Sweeney on Friday after the two clubs agreed a fee.
The Potters are thought to have agreed an initial fee of £250,000 for the 19-year-old, potentially rising to £1million depending on several clauses in the transfer being met.
Stoke confirmed on their Twitter feed on Thursday night an agreement had been reached and the former Republic of Ireland Under-18 international is expected at the club’s Clayton Wood training base on Friday to undergo a medical.
Should the deal go through, Sweeney will become Stoke’s second signing of the summer after they landed Wales international Joe Allen for £13million from Liverpool.
Sweeney is unlikely to feature much in the first-team this season having only played 10 times for AFC Wimbledon last term and could go out on loan.
