Steve McClaren faces imminent sacking from Newcastle job

“It is not pleasant. It is part of the job”

Steve McClaren

“I don’t give up,” he said. “I don’t want to give up.

“There’s no self doubt whatsoever but the decision is out of my hands. It’s for other people.

“My message is, as always, I think we do the right things, we can work at it and we have the players in that dressing room to win enough games in the last ten to get out of it.

“But after the Bournemouth performance, if we perform like that, we will not.”

He added: “I feel angry and frustrated. We work with these players and they are better than that.

“Only a few can come out and say they have the character to handle it. We will make that obvious.

“It is not pleasant. It is part of the job.”
