Arsenal are confident of tying star forward Alexis Sanchez to a new contract before the end of the year after productive talks.
At the start of the summer the 27-year-old was being linked with a move away from the Emirates Stadium with Italian giants Inter Milan preparing an ambitious bid to land him.
However, with the transfer window now shut, it would appear the Chile international is content to stay in north London, prompting Arsenal to step up talks over a new contract with his previous deal having less than two years left to run.
The latest speculation suggests the two parties have an agreement in principle on an extension which will see Sanchez’s wages rise to £210,000-per-week.
Talks are ongoing but it is understood both Arsenal and Sanchez’s representatives are confident a deal can be completed in the next two months.
Meanwhile, it is being reported in some sections of the UK press that Sanchez will look to have a buy-out figure inserted in his new contract, a clause which Arsenal are unlikely to be keen on granting him.
