Berahino has been linked with a move to Tottenham before the start of next term, but Pulis has backed West Brom chairman Jeremy Peace to play hard ball over the striker’s future once again.

Peace has refused to bow to Berahino agitating for a move in the past few transfer windows, and Pulis believes the Baggies chief will not change that stance now.

Berahino is about the enter the final 12 months of his West Brom contract, but Pulis insists the club will not just let the 22-year-old leave on the cheap.

“I don’t think my chairman does bargains,” said Pulis, when asked if Premier League rivals are eyeing a knock-down price for Berahino. “I know they’re talking about it, but you come and work with my chairman – he doesn’t do bargains.”

Tottenham are reported to have failed with at least three bids in the past and it is thought they will have to pay above £20million if they are to have any chance of doing a deal.
