Southampton face the prospect of losing Tottenham target Victor Wanyama if boss Ronald Koeman moves to Everton this summer.
The Kenya international wanted to move 12 months ago but Spurs were blocked by the Saints, although the north Londoners have maintained their interest and will hope to finally secure his services in the upcoming transfer window.
It is thought Saints want £25million for the 24-year-old but they may be forced to accept significantly less due to the fact Wanyama has only a year left on his current contract at St Mary’s and has shown no desire to pen a new deal.
Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino knows the midfielder well from his time in charge of Saints, signing him from Celtic in 2013, and views Wanyama as the perfect man to add experience and athleticism to his ranks ahead of next season.
The uncertainty over Koeman’s future has led to speculation that a host of players could follow him out of the exit door, the Dutchman is wanted at Everton but so far Southampton have refused him permission to speak to the Goodison Park outfit.
Saints have been in this position before when Pochettino left and they bounced backed strongly that time so will be hoping to do the same this time around.
