Tottenham look likely to miss out on target Ayoze Perez after the forward said he is going to stay at relegated Newcastle.
Spurs have had a long-standing interest in the Spaniard as Mauricio Pochettino looks to add to his attacking options at White Hart Lane and were expected to make a move once the Magpies were relegated from the Premier League.
The 22-year-old, who is rated at around the £10m mark, is also wanted by other Premier League sides although he signed a new deal at St James’ Park last January and says he wants to stay put.
He told Spanish publication El Dia: “I have a contract (with Newcastle) until 2021. I was part of the relegation and I am preparing to return to my best.
“It was not a good year collectively or individually, but I scored some goals.”
Spurs have been linked with a host of attacking options this summer and Pochettino has plenty of other targets.
