Tottenham have joined Liverpool and Everton in the race to sign Newcastle star Georginio Wijnaldum and are confident of doing a deal.
The Dutchman looks to be on the move following Newcastle’s relegation to the Championship, but the Magpies are holding out for a fee in the region of £25million.
There had been suggestions that such a figure would scare off Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino, but the Spurs boss is willing to let a number of players move the other way in the hope of securing a deal.
However they face strong competition as Liverpool hope to use the money raised from the sale of Jordon Ibe to Bournemouth to fund a deal, while Everton have money to spend and are in the hunt.
The Toffees may feel they have the edge following the appointment of fellow Dutchman Ronald Koeman as manager, but any deal will hinge on meeting Newcastle’s valuation.
Tottenham have put the wheels in motion and the 25-year-old’s future could be sorted out this week as the battle for his signature hots up.
