Tottenham and AC Milan are reportedly showing interest in Real Madrid midfelder Mateo Kovacic after his price was fixed at £23million.
Spurs have been linked to the 22-year-old Croatian before and are understood to rate him very highly.
Kovacic joined Real Madrid for £23.25m from Inter Milan last summer but he has been unable to hold down a place in the side under boss Zinedine Zidane.
He started only eight league games last season and completed the full 90 minutes on only three occasions, failing to score and assisting just two goals for the club.
Inter’s rivals AC Milan are keen to take him back to Serie A where he was a standout performer in 2014-15, scoring five times in 26 Serie A starts for the Nerazzurri.
Tottenham are currently well off for midfielders but, with a number of their rivals spending big money to catch up and the Champions League group stages on the horizon, they could be tempted to make a move for a player who fellow countryman Luke Modric believes will be a star of the future.
