Arsenal are reported to be showing an interest in Sporting Lisbon striker Islam Slimani as Arsene Wenger looks to bolster his attack.
Wenger has been on the lookout for a new striker for some time but now needs two after Danny Welbeck suffered another serious injury that will rule him out for much of next season.
Juventus striker Alvaro Morata and Napoli’s Gonzalo Higuain continue to be linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium although it looks as though Wenger could now turn his attention to Slimani.
The Algeria international caught the eye when firing home 31 goals for Sporting this season and the Portuguese side are now bracing themselves for offers.
Slimani, who has also been linked with Crystal Palace, is thought to have a £23million release clause in his contract and the Gunners could be ready to activate it in the near future.
