Lazio have made Southampton striker Graziano Pelle their top transfer target.
The 30-year-old will have one year to run on his contract come the summer and he is reportedly open to a return to Italy.
AC Milan have already expressed an interest after deciding to send Mario Balotelli back to Liverpool following his unsuccessful loan.
But, according to Corriere dello Sport, Milan will face competition from Lazio after they placed Pelle at the top of their summer shopping list.
The Serie A side are in need of a new striker, with Miroslav Klose set to leave the club following five seasons in the Italian capital.
Lazio had been looking at Borussia Dortmund forward Ciro Immobile, but they are now ready to go all out for Pelle instead.
