Victor Wanyama appears to be closing in on a move to Tottenham Hotspur, with the player claiming he has passed a medical with the north London club.
The Kenyan midfielder has one year remaining on his Southampton contract, yet seems destined for a reunion with his former boss Mauricio Pochettino at White Hart Lane.
Speaking to www.soka25east.com, the 24-year-old claimed; “I am indeed elated at passing my medicals at Tottenham.
“It is a new dawn in my career and I believe I will give my best for my new team.”
Wanyama, who has made 92 appearances for the south coast club since arriving from Celtic in July 2013, appeared to be set on a move away from St. Mary’s on Monday after it was rumoured a fee of £11million had been agreed between the two clubs.
However, it would appear that the move has edged even closer to completion following Wanyama’s comments to the African football website.
“I want to thank Southampton management and fans for the exceptional time we had together. I will always have a fond place for them in my heart.”
