Rudi Garcia’s odds have shortened to be the next Southampton manager this week.
The 52-year-old is leading the race to replace Ronald Koeman, who left St Mary’s to take over as manager of Premier League rivals Everton.
The Dutchman’s departure had been on the cards for a number of weeks, as the Toffees looked to replace Roberto Martinez. So the Saints and executive director of football Les Reed have had some time to draw up a managerial shortlist.
A number of names have been mentioned for the post, from Eddie Howe – manager of south coast neighbours Bournemouth – to former Chelsea and Tottenham manager Andre Villas-Boas, who recently left Zenit St Petersburg after two years.
Here, talkSPORT looks at the five managers the bookies fancy to take the Saints post*, starting with least likely to most likely. Click the arrow right, above, to see who could be Southampton boss come August, when they will face Watford at home on the first day of the 2016/17 season.
