Homegrown talent McQueen, 21, is the latest left-back to storm through the famed Saints academy – after megastars Gareth Bale and Luke Shaw.
Boss Claude Puel turned to McQueen during Sunday’s 3-1 victory against Burnley, after Matt Targett became the Saints’ fourth crocked full-back along with Ryan Bertrand, Cedric Soares and Jeremy Pied.
And converted winger McQueen is hoping Puel trusts him to do a job against Inter Milan in the Europa League on Thursday.
He said: “I hope I can play at the San Siro. I will do everything in the next few days to get ready for it and show I should be playing.
“It’s been years and years of hard work to get to this stage. It’s my movie moment to come on at St Mary’s and make my debut.
