“If you lose your confidence as an individual and as a team then you’ve got no chance”
“If you lose your confidence as an individual and as a team then you’ve got no chance. It’s got to be a balance. You have to criticise because it’s not good. You have to point fingers.
“But there has to be a mix between the two of them. It’s hard. But that’s the nature of the job. You have to find the balance.”
Bilic, a former Croatia international, claims times have changed since his playing days when managers could really get tough with their players.
He said: “It was a bit harder when I was a player. Back home in Yugoslavia, it was very old fashioned. We call it old fashioned, it was like that in school with you.
“Everything’s changed in school now. Before the teacher could give you a little slap, or whatever. Now you can’t do it. Not in Croatia, not everywhere. It all changed, not only football.
