Arsenal are reported to be lining up a swoop for midfielder Moussa Sissoko following Newcastle’s relegation to the Championship.
The Magpies are keen to keep their squad intact but one or two departures are inevitable and reports claim that Sissoko is on the radar of Gunners boss Arsene Wenger.
Midfield is an area the Frenchman needs to bolster following the departures of Mikel Arteta, Tomas Rosicky and Mathieu Flamini, and Sissoko appears to be a target.
Sissoko is under contract until 2019, but refused to nail his colours to the Newcastle mast following relegation, and he would jump at to the chance to move to a club like Arsenal.
Sissoko wants to play Champions League football, something Arsenal could offer him next season.
The Gunners are willing to pay £10million for the player, which could test Newcastle’s resolve as they look to balance the books following relegation.
