Stoke skipper Ryan Shawcross is urging the Potters to spend big again this summer as they look to move on to the next level.
The Potters have not been shy in splashing the cash when bringing the likes of Xherdan Shaqiri and Giannelli Imbula to the club, and Shawcross is hoping for another spree in the summer.
Stoke have finished in ninth spot for a third consecutive season, and while that can be seen as a considerable achievement, a place in Europe is what everyone is targeting.
To make it, further investment will be needed, and Shawcross is hopeful it will happen.
“You always want to finish strong, and we remembered beating Liverpool 6-1 on the final day of last season,” Shawcross was quoted as saying by the Stoke Sentinel.
“We wanted to get that win to go into the summer on a high. Thankfully we’ve done that. It’s three successive ninth-placed finishes and we can build on that. We’ve got a top-class manager and a chairman who backs him.
“Hopefully we’ll spend a bit of money over the summer and carry on recruiting some top players and carry on improving.”
