Sergio Busquets set to sign new Barcelona deal with €200m buy-out clause, ending Manchester City speculation
Sergio Busquets is ready to end talk of a reunion with Pep Guardiola at Manchester City by signing a new five-year contract at Barcelona.
The midfielder has spent his whole career with the Spanish champions, coming through their famous La Masia academy to break into the first-team.
It was under Guardiola that Busquets made his name at the Nou Camp and there have been reports he could join his former boss at City.
But now the Spain international is preparing to put all that speculation to bed by penning a new deal at Barcelona.
The 28-year-old will sign fresh terms on Thursday at the club’s offices, with the contract set to run until June 2021.
Busquets’ new deal also includes a buyout clause of €200m (£171m) and the option of a further two-year extension through to the 2022/23 season – depending on the number of games that he plays.
