Arsenal are believed to be interested in RB Leipzig centre-back Lukas Klostermann as they seek to ease their defensive concerns.
The Gunners, who are 6/1 with Titanbet to win the Premier League, have been left short of options at the back after Per Mertesacker and Gabriel suffered injuries in pre-season, while Laurent Koscielny will miss the start of the campaign after an extended summer break.
As a result, Arsenal look likely to start Calum Chambers and Rob Holding as their centre-backs for Sunday’s Premier League opener against Liverpool.
Boss Arsene Wenger has played down the possibility of a new defender arriving but that has not stopped the club being linked with Valencia stopper Shkodran Mustafi, although talk of a move for the German has gone quiet of late.
Reports in Germany are now suggesting Wenger has switched his attention to 20-year-old Klostermann, who impressed last season as RB Leipzig were promoted to the Bundesliga.
The centre-back is currently away with Germany for the Olympic Games in Rio but that has not stopped German newspaper Bild suggesting a deal for Klostermann could still be hammered out this week.
