West Ham boss Slaven Bilic has refused to confirm a deal for Inter Milan full-back Davide Santon is close to being completed.
The Hammers manager is after a new left-back to replace Aaron Creswell, who is out for around four months with a knee injury, and former Newcastle man Santon is believed to be in London for talks over a move.
However, Bilic would not be drawn on new arrivals, saying only: “Even before Cresswell got injured, we were looking to strengthen at left-back.
“He’s a very good player, but we were looking for backup. We are not the only team looking for a left-back, and it’s hard to find a good one we like and who is willing to come. It’s now a priority.”
Norwich’s Martin Olsson is another possibility but Bilic will not pay the reported Canaries’ £5million asking price, while a potential loan move for Arsenal’s Keiran Gibbs has also been explored.
