Newcastle target Samuel Umtiti has admitted that he may have second thoughts about becoming a one-club man at Lyon.
The 22-year-old started his career with the French club and has already racked up 122 Ligue 1 appearances.
However, the defender has emerged as a target for Newcastle, as well as other sides across Europe, which has raised questions over his long-term future in the south of France.
And, while he says the prospect of spending his entire career with Lyon may be appealing, Umtiti has conceded that he may need to move away to further his development.
Talking to France Football, he said: “At Lyon I went through all the stages from youth team to first team. I am proud to have done all that.
“Playing an entire career at the same club has become very rare. I rule out nothing.
“But if, after a while, I see the need to do something different, I will ask myself the question.”
