Sampdoria are believed to have spoken to Abel Hernandez’s agent about a return to Italy for the Hull City striker.
The Uruguay international is thought to be keen on quitting the KC Stadium and returning to Serie A this summer having previously spent five years with Palermo before he joined Hull.
The latest speculation in the Italian press says Hernandez’s agent has been in Milan this week where he is thought to have spoken to Sampdoria’s sporting director Carlo Ostio about a move to Genoa.
The Tigers hope to be able to persuade the 25-year-old to stay after he netted 21 times for Steve Bruce’s men in the Championship last season en route to the Premier League.
