Sam Allardyce will find out this week if he is the FA’s choice as England’s new manager

19 Jul

FA chiefs had originally promised to scour the world for the best possible candidate, but they know the leading bosses on the planet are unavailable.

It is understood Howe is regarded as too inexperienced, but could still become part of the new coaching set-up with a view to succeeding Allardyce further down the line.

While Allardyce has never managed in the Champions League or won a major trophy, his man-management skills are regarded as among the best.

He has got the backing of several club owners and players past and present, who all believe he is the best man for the job in the current circumstances.

He will inherit a talented squad, but one that still lost to Iceland in the last 16 of Euro 2016 to leave England the laughing stock of world football and Hodgson with no choice but to quit.
