Sam Allardyce on brink of being SACKED: England boss in showdown talks at Wembley

It is an embarrassing episode for the integrity of the FA and if Clarke feels that has been totally compromised then the dream job Allardyce actively pursued for a decade will have gone inside two months.

No decision has been taken as yet with Clarke and Glenn waiting to formally speak to Allardyce face to face, but outlook appears bleak.

Allardyce believes his comments were ill-advised but not corrupt and he is expected to apologise to Hodgson, who he mocked by calling “Woy.”

England are due play Malta in a World Cup qualifier on October 8 followed by Slovenia three days later.

U21s coach Gareth Southgate could be put in interim charge of the seniors.
