Sajid Javid shames Brexit ruling for ‘blocking the will of the people’ on Question Time

Gina Miller, the lead claimant in bringing the case to the High Court, spoke after the ruling and urged the Government to “do the responsible sober thing, which is to do the job we pay them for, to debate all the aspects to do with leaving and then have a vote”.

But many pro-Brexit politicians chastised the decision, with Jacob Rees-Mogg claiming the result does not represent the will of millions of people who voted leave.

He said: “It doesn’t change the fact that Parliament gave the responsibility to decide whether we remained in the European Union to the British people and the British people decided to go.
