Victor Wanyama’s move to Spurs is all but complete after he passed a medical and said he was looking forward to a ‘new dawn’.
The Kenyan midfielder’s £11million move to join up with former Saints boss Mauricio Pochettino at White Hart Lane appears to be just a formality, with the player claiming a medical has been completed, although there has been no formal confirmation from either club as yet.
Wanyama, who will be 25 on Saturday, was signed for the Saints from Celtic in July 2013, but had not taken up offers of a new contract, and so would have been free to leave St Mary’s Stadium at the end of the upcoming season.
“I am indeed elated at passing my medicals at Tottenham. It is a new dawn in my career and I believe I will give my best for my new team,” Wanyama said in an interview with African football website http://www.soka25east.com.
“I want to thank Southampton management and fans for the exceptional time we had together. I will always have a fond place for them in my heart.”
Wanyama made 92 appearances for Southampton, scoring four goals.
